HR Trails Meeting Reminder!
A Forest Recreation Trails Committee meeting is scheduled for Tuesday February 1, 2011 at 4:00pm in the Hood River County Forestry Department Conference Room.
Agenda to be discussed below:
Saturday, January 29, 2011
Family Man 'Rhythm Trail' RE-OPENED!
With nothing less than a 'valient' effort did Sam Pinner, Val & Ryan Goodwin and Myself finished the 'Rhythm Trail' pumptrack today. The main loop is re-done and larger in diameter. Rollers are still being manicured and certain areas are going to be 'tweaked' during the few spring months. We are also hard at work in making several 'options' and that won't be done until we host another well attended work party.
So enjoy these pictures and get your bike up to Family Man for some laps. Time to get 'sexy' for the summer tanning!

Pumptrack Facts: The Original Loop was built in 60 hours by 2 volunteers. This recent work has totaled over 190+ hours of volunteer time and has created a very special place in Family Man where parents host 'birthday parties' and new friends are constantly being created by hanging out at the 'Rythm Trail' pumptrack. Lower your seatpost! Break out the hardtails!
Open House CAMBA Meeting

CAMBA meeting Wednesday February 2nd. 7pm at Skyline Hospital, White Salmon
CAMBA is hosting an open to everyone, Open House meeting at the Skyline hospital "community" room located in their basement. Directions to the room will be posted on the main entrance door. Our thanks to Tom Wooding for facilitating use of this location.
We will be discussing the Forest Services January 7-2011 Decision announcement, to select Proposal #2 plan for the Syncline/Catherine creek recreation area. Here again is the link to that proposal:

We have some changes that we believe could be easily incorporated, as well clarification on other points in the plan. Our intent is to present these, and see what other concerns the larger group may have. Then determine if we have enough support to take these back to the Forest Service and work with them to incorporate our recommendations.
Please share this meeting date with anyone you feel would be interested in this discussion.
Best Regards

Dirtjumps On The Agenda For Next Trails Meeting!
OK Folks, you requested it, some of you even whined a little bit for it and I got it. DIRTJUMPS SKILLS AREA to be voted on at the upcoming Trails Meeting which is scheduled for Tuesday January 25, 2011 at 4:00pm at the Hood River Forestry Department. (located across the street from the community pool and firedept, drive into gated area, straight back about one block and look for a brown building on the right clearly marked "Forestry Dept") A presentation will be made showing other dirtjump skills parks from around the world and we need to show the HR Trails Commitee that there are many people in the Gorge that want a place to progress as 'jumpers' and don't have big dollar full suspension bikes to ride.
I ask you all planning to attend to be respectful, do not come to the meeting drunk, smoking cigs and cursing up a storm. Multiple users groups will be there and any confrontations during these presentations will only deter the vote to a negative vote. This is a positive dedicated area that will be policed-maintained by riders who are passionate about this specific location.
Just to clarify- There has not been a walk thru of the planned area yet! Areas of installation are being decided and we will have designers onsite to make sure its 100% feasible for building. Once the Trails Commitee votes on the area being approved. A 'walk-thru' assessment for placing the park will then proceed. SO REALIZE THIS IS THE FIRST STEP! Once the area is approved and we get the green light to build, then its WORK PARTY TIME! Whoo Hoo! This is the first step. I need everyone who rides a hardtail to attend and show support. Pass the word! Post to FB, Twitter or Outerspace, what ever that other one is called. Any questions- leave a comment (here on the blog) and I'll post a reply once discovered. Looking forward to seeing you all there in support!
